Borrowing clothes from a fashion library SS17 – Part IV: Chilly Summer Outfits
This year’s summer was anything but… summery. Still, I’ve managed to borrow a few chilly summer outfits from the LENA library and I can’t wait to show you how and where I’ve worn them.
This is what I borrowed in the beginning of summer when the weather was still a bit kinder:
Borrowed: Black trousers – “Transfer” – (SECONDHAND VALUE € 59,90)
Worn: 5 times
These kind of trousers were something of an experiment for me. I’m not used to the wide leg trousers, usually leaning towards a skinnier cut. But these pants also had a bit of an awkward length. This length is really popular at the moment, but let’s just say, it’s not the most flattering cut.
It was still fun to experiment with something I wouldn’t usually wear. I was surprised how often I ended up wearing them. I’ve also incorporated the trousers into a few chilly summer outfits combining them with a light sweater.
Overall I found this a fun look but I just didn’t feel like “me” in these pants. I do love the idea of borrowing clothes from the fashion library and experimenting with trends without the commitment of buying the clothes.
Borrowed: Green dress – Studio JUX– (secondhand value € 199,00)
Worn: 4 times
This dress was so much fun! Perfect with sweaters and bare legs, ideal to create many combos for the chilly summer outfits as it wasn’t so thin.
But what I like most about this dress is the fact that it is made by studio JUX. Studio JUX is offering sustainable, ethical and beautifully designed fashion at fair and affordable prices.
Borrowed: Silk top –”Lucia”– (secondhand value € 25,00)
Worn: 3 times
This yellow silk top was so lovely and light. The sleeves were pretty wide so sometimes I had to pair it with a camisole.
Borrowed: Retro style jeans –”John Baner”– (secondhand value € 42,00)
I ended up buying them!
Ta-da! My first purchase from the LENA library. I’ve tried them on previously, wanted to borrow them but never got to it. Then, one day, I just didn’t see them anymore… and I was surprised how sad I felt. So when they’ve appeared again I just bought them.
sorry for the wrinkly picture…
These classic 70’s jeans were not very flattering, making me look a bit wider than I am, but boy were they comfy. I’m so used to wearing skinny cut jeans, which I love but find too sweaty to wear in the summer. So… hello my new pair of summer jeans! Oh, and aren’t the pocket details super cute?
Total value: € 325,90 - € 34,95 = € 290,95. Hours spent “shopping” (choosing the clothes): 1h 30min

I never like it when my pants hit at a strange length as the first ones do. The tops are so cute as are the summer jeans. I have never heard of the Fashion Library so this must be something available only in your country.

Yes, sadly I think so. I am in Amsterdam, the Netherlands and we only have one. There’s another one in Sweden. I know that in NY and in Paris (and maybe London) there are clothes libraries that lend out expensive evening clothes and designer bags. Stuff you wouldn’t quickly buy yourself but might want for a special occasion. Amsterdam’s fashion library is different in this way, they actually have “normal” clothes so it’s a really cool place to experiment with different styles. I pay 34 euro monthly subscription and free to borrow anything.

I totally love the yellow top plus the green dress. I am not a fan of such kind of pants, but it looked good on you. 🙂 And loved that jeans, super cool.
