Borrowing clothes from the fashion library saved me € 177,00 in March!

Better late than never, let me show you what I borrowed from LENA fashion library in the month of March. (I was travelling all through February so didn’t borrow anything). This month I focused on the vintage clothes so the “money saved” section is not as impressive since vintage items are usually cheaper than new ones. But still, here are the clothes I got and how much money I have saved:

Borrowed: Kimono – Vintage – (secondhand value € 69,90)

Worn: 2 times

So… a kimono… Really? Really! I’ve had this cool idea of wearing a kimono as an evening coat for a while. By keeping the rest of the outfit simple and black I really made the colors of the kimono pop. I know there’s a debate going on about whether a kimono or other cultural identity items should be worn in a way they aren’t meant to. People are entitled to their own opinion, but I personally think that it’s ok to borrow elements from other cultures and use them in your everyday outfits. I mean, I would never get upset if someone took a Russian scarf and wore it as a skirt…In fact, I would find it cool!

Borrowed: Black velvet dress – Vintage – (secondhand value € 50,00)

Worn: 3 times

This was a beautiful velvet dress I have worn with some army boots and a cardigan during the day and with heels as an evening dress. I love the idea of borrowing “trendy” items without the need to buy them. Trends pass and when they do, I don’t end up with a closet full of last season’s clothes.

Borrowed: Original 90’s dress – Vintage – (secondhand value € 50,00)

Worn: 4 times

This was a very easy dress to style and so, wearing it 4 times didn’t feel like a lot or too often. The 90’s style of this dress makes me think the same thoughts as about the previous one: it’s a trend that will pass and I’m happy I didn’t invest in it but I had fun playing with it.

Borrowed: Oversized blouse – Vintage – (secondhand value € 42,00)

Worn: 3 times

This was a size XXL blouse that I’ve worn as an oversized blazer. I always pay attention to different size clothes in stores. Sometimes you can achieve fun unexpected results by going a few sizes up.

March: Total value: € 211,90 - € 34,95 = € 176,95. Hours spent “shopping” (choosing the clothes): 2h 30min

I’ve never heard of a fashion library but it seems like a cool idea. I’m weird about my clothes though and I’m completely creeped out by the idea of clothes-sharing. I know I could save a ton of money if I could get over that hang up of mine but I can’t.

These pieces are so beautiful! I love shopping secondhand because it feels good to be able to bring a piece back to life again and save some money in the process! Loved your looks!

I love the idea of borrowing fashion pieces but I’ve never tried it before. I’m going to have to check out the LENA fashion library.

I don’t think I’ve ever heard of a fashion library before either, but it sounds awesome!
